 NURSING REGISTRATION & IMMIGRATION CANADA (NRIC)

 

DESCRIPTION:  The Nursing Registration & Immigration Canada (NRIC) is complete package of information and services of Global Summit for nurses who wish to migrate to Canada and practise their nursing profession. It should be noted that the nursing registration is not required in your admission to Canada.

 

          The programme is divided into two parts: 

           1.  How to become a NURSE in Canada?;

           2.  How you should be in Canada?                    How to become a NURSE in Canada?

    1.  Select the province you want to live and work as a Nurse when you become an Immigrant in Canada.

    2.  Know all the requirements needed for registration.

    3.  Accomplish the needed requirements for registration e.g. Proof of Language Proficiency such as IELTS.

    4.  Apply for Credentialing with the  Canadian Board of Nursing.

    5.  Comply what is the recommendation of the Canadian Board of Nursing.

    6.  Prepare take the Canadian Registered Nurse Exam (CRNE).

    7.  Sucessfully pass the CRNE. 

     

    Each province in Canada has their own nursing board, and each nursing board have their own policy concerning registration.

     

    The following are the basic requirements for registration

    1.  School documents  such as TOR, College Diploma, RLE

    2.  PRC registration

    3.  Work Experience- Usually 1,250 hours of work experience in the last 5 years is required for registration

    4.  Proof of Language.  IELTS is the commonly accepted proof of language.  The needed for registration for IELTS are as follow:

    Listening 7.5-8.0;  Reading 6.5-7.0; Speaking 7.0-7.5;  Writing 7.0-7.5.  Academic Version is required. One sitting only. 

    Limited Opportunity:  IELTS (Academic Version) Speaking 7.0, Writing/Listening/Reading 6.5. 

    Other languages that are accepted but not on all provinces: TOIEC, TOEFL-iBT and French.

    The cost of registration varies from one board to another, the same with the processing time.

     

    Some Nurses may apply for Language Exemption.  The following are required for exemption:

    1.  A minimum of 1 year work experience as a Nurse from an English Country; or

    2. Current 2 years work experience as healthcare provider from an English country e.g. UK Carer.

THE IMMIGRATION

 

There two (2) Skilled Worker Migration Pathway to Canada:

  • Federal Skilled Worker
  • Quebec Skilled Worker
  •  

This 2 pathways have different criteria or requirements for eligibility in applying for migration. But both of the above are under the points system.

 

The following are considered for eligibility both immigration programme:

  •     Educational Qualification
  •   Age
  •   Work Experience
  •   Language Profiency
  •   Access to fund
  •   Civil Status

 

The processing time varies from case to case. The fees also varies from each other. But the programme doesn't require the nurse to have an sponsor to successfully achieve his/her permanent stattus (PR) or "immigrant" in Canada.

 

Benefits of a PR in Canada:

1.  You can live, study and work in any parts of Canada.  You work without limits as to the number of hours.  You do not need an employer to sponsor you for work visa anymore.

2.   You are entitle to Free access of the healthcare services in Canada.

3.  If you are married, you can bring your spouse and children to live permanently in Canada.

4. You children will have a free access to education.   

5.  You can apply to become a Canadian Citizen.

 

If you are interested in processing for Quebec skilled worker you must act NOW as the Nursing occupation is still on the 2009 List of preferred areas of training. Being listed on the areas of training, processing your application will be prioritised.
